The PCAV provide for its members an opportunity to study for and take exams which evaluate their riding ability and theoretical knowledge, this gives the member a better indication of their progress through Pony Club. The certificates are regulated by age and experience so that all members can be working towards a certificate at any stage, although the benefit of the certificate system is to enhance the members general knowledge of both riding and horse care, it is not compulsory and the decision to attain certificates is left up to the member.

Certificates are offered to the youngest members starting with the "D" certificate and progressing through to the "A" certificate.

Pre-Requisites

  • Certificates D, C, B & A must be gained in that order. I.e. each is a pre-requisite for the higher Certificate.

  • Certificates, D *, K and H are additional certificates and are not pre-requisites to progress, but the D certificate must be gained prior to D Star.

  • The D and C certificates must be gained prior to K Certificate.

  • There is no pre-requisite for H Certificate.
