In order to pass the D Certificate the candidate must be able to ride their pony at the walk, trot and canter without being led and know the 'Do's and Don'ts of riding on the road.
The objectives of the D Certificate are to gain confidence in riding and handling a pony and to be keen to improve and learn. There is no written exam for the D Certificate and it can be examined internally by Instructors at your Pony Club. D Certificate candidates must be able to work with their pony on the ground including being able to lead, tie up and groom the pony, give the pony a carrot and let the pony go in a paddock. The candidate must be able to identify comfortable living and feeding conditions for their pony. The candidate must also be able to point out parts of the pony and parts of saddlery and tack. |
