The C Star is the first certificate which must be examined by an external examiner. These exams are scheduled approximately twice a year. Your Pony Club Zone will set examination dates, times and places. The candidates are expected to arrive for the examination with a clean and tidy pony with feet obviously well cared for and presented in clean and well Pitting gear. The rider must be presented in full Pony Club uniform.
The written paper for the C Certificate should take approximately 30 minutes and the candidate must score at least 65% for a pass. The riding component of the C Certificate requires greater control of the pony than the previous D Certificates and riders must be able to adjust tack while mounted, ride with and without stirrups, canter on the correct canter lead and gallop safely. The C Certificate asks candidates to show to the examiner that they can negotiate their pony around a fairly small showjumping course and cross country obstacles safely. The height of jumps used in the examination will be no higher than 75cm (2'6') Greater emphasis is put on Horsemastership and general knowledge in the C Certificate.
