- Minimum Age : 16 years
- Pre Requisites - D Certificate, C Certificate and K Certificate
The objectives of the B Certificate are as follows:
- Become an active, all round rider who knows the reasons for what he/she is doing and is able to assess the results
- Be able to ride over different types of obstacles at specified paces at a maximum height of I metre
- To be able to jump and ride any well mannered pony and be able to comment on his way of moving
- To be able to participate in any Pony Club activities of interest to the rider, and to look after the pony before, during and after the day's activity.
A restricted B Certificate is awarded to a candidate who can negotiate jumps of no higher than 60cm (2). It is necessary for the
candidate to demonstrate a greater proficiency in flat riding
To be eligible to sit for the B Certificate the candidate must have experience in the following:
- Active Riding
- Flat work and jumping
- Horse care including shoeing
- Service to pony club, other than riding
- Riding a variety of horses and their schooling progress
- Attendance at schools and normal Pony Club activities
- Lungeing
- Course designing and building of show jumping and cross country courses.
The two hour written examination will cover:
- Handling, Grooming and Equipment
- Feeding, Watering and Conditioning
- The foot, teeth and general health
- General knowledge
- First aid to humans
- Pony Club structure
- Racing
- Hunting Knowledge
- Famous horses and people
- Our Olympic Equestrian record
- Teams in an Olympic year
- Lungeing
